Some years ago, in UK, what is now generally called a Blow Job, BJ, was referred to as being "Gobbled" - probably derived from the sounds hungry ppl made when eagerly bolting down a much-desired meal.
Giving head snuck into BritEng. Both terms were to a great extent descriptive.
** Why the hell then, a BLOW job?

That (English) idiomatic phrase, and the concept of "eating" someone is an indication of a deep involvement vvith the other.
For example:
