When you wake up on November 4, there’s a better chance than you think that your president will be Bernie Sanders.

That’s not my judgment; that’s the prediction — the warning, really — of the granddaddy of all fiscal conservative publications, The Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper ran an op-ed this week titled “Be Prepared for President Sanders”… and it’s not because the hedge fund managers want it...

take a look at the facts.

First, there’s the money. In the last three months of last year, Bernie Sanders raised more money than any other Democratic presidential hopeful—$34.5 million.

But unlike the candidates who spend their time romancing the “billionaires in wine caves” crowd, most of Sanders’ haul came from small donors sending him small bills—less than $20 on average.

That means his small army of donors can keep giving, and giving, after Democratic billionaire donors are tapped out.

Second, there’s Bernie’s high ranking in the polls. Sanders “has run second, behind Joe Biden, in national polls for most of the past year,” WSJ writer John Riley begins.

But national polls don’t matter, because you win the presidential nomination one state at a time—and that’s what’s got everyone jittery. Because third, there’s Bernie’s standing in the early states...

Right now polls range from Sanders beating Trump by eight points to Trump winning by five...

Sanders is different—and threatening—because he pays lip service to the same voters who back Donald Trump. He says he says he wants to bring back manufacturing jobs, get America out of endless wars, care for veterans (even a veteran who threatened to commit suicide at one of his rallies), and—unlike every other Democrat on the stage—he says he’s against open borders.

    -----------

To be effective Bernie will need Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress so that the Republicans cannot stop his agenda. Franklin Roosevelt was re elected three times because life for most Americans began to improve nearly as soon as he was inaugurated. The Democrats picked up more seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate in the election of 1934. That gave Roosevelt more power to fight the Great Depression.

If the government is to play a major role in the economy the government must be competently led. Democratic socialism is not a panacea. From 1921 to 2008 the economy has nearly always performed better under Democratic presidents. Even under Jimmy Carter there were considerably more jobs created per year than under Ronald Reagan.

      Its the economy stupid.

And for a lot of Americans who have had a cart full of despicables lip service (minorities especially) with no improvement, their lot started improving on November 5.

Wonder how they'll vote on November 4?

Bernie has made a lot of promises about free shit the rich will pay for.

One question Bernie; since you're one of the rich ones now, you gonna pay your share?

And yet, he just got a swift kick in the nuts courtesy of louse squeaker Nancy Pelosi. Had she transmitted their articles of shampeachment after the vote, the Senate trial could be underway at this moment, or starting soon. Instead, it's not expected to start till around the 21st, with the Iowa caucuses scheduled for February 3rd. Instead of tramping across Iowa taking selfies and kissing babies, Bennett, Klobuchar, Booker, Bernie, & Lieawatha will be enjoying (not) the thing they've all been demanding for a while now, far from Iowa.

Better yet, if they end up "winning" in Pelosi's other demands (witnesses), well that will just drag it out even longer. And NH's primary is only 8 days after Iowa.

The Horn News is a right wing website. Websites, publications, and political commentators can be assumed to be more accurate when they arrive at conclusions they and their readers to not want to believe.

You are right. The Wall Street Journal is the leading Republican newspaper. A Sanders presidency is certainly not what The Wall Street Journal wants. That alone gives this article credibility.

Still just another pundit bloviating his opinion.

      Its the economy, stupid.

According to the Real Clear Politics average of the last six major polls Bernie Sanders beats Trump by 2.6%. That is not enough to offset Trump's advantage in the Electoral College.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...s/general_election_trump_vs_sanders-6250.html

Sanders needs to win the votes of white blue collar workers and farmers who have not befitted from the Trump economy. He also needs to bring his natural constituency to the polls in November. These are millennials who have nothing to show for their college degrees but unpayable student loans and low wage jobs.

A stock market crash and recession is always possible by next November. The economic expansion Trump takes credit for began the last month of Obama's first year in office. Trump has done nothing of a substantial nature to restore American prosperity. His tax cuts raised the deficits Republicans complained about when Obama was president.

I tire of repeating myself. :bored:

Most of the polls said Hillary would win the popular vote and she did.

    1. shootersa
And every pundit, celebrity and politician as well as the despicables around here said Trump woul not be elected president.

You never seem to tire of being stupid.

The polls never mentioned the "popular vote" Distant Lover.

    Nor do the current polls....:meh:

He inadvertently added a space at the end of the url. You see the %20 at the end? That's the HTML character code (Hex Code) for the equivalent of hitting your space bar. Remove that, and the page you're looking for will leave you just as frustrated, because the Wall Street Journal articles are behind a paywall. Fun stuff, eh? :)

The editorial board of The Wall Street Journal sometimes writes editorials that are moderately liberal on social issues. On economic issues The Journal takes stands that favor employers against employees and the rich against everyone else. This is the essence of economic conservatism.

Nevertheless, The Wall Street Journal can be trusted on factual assertions.

Opinion surveys for presidential elections have never predicted on a state by state bases to predict the outcome in the Electoral Collage. They have always measured the popular vote because until recently the winner of the popular vote could be considered to also win in the Electoral College.
