Kimiko's description is so complete and concise, I hesitate to add to it. However, since I am a bi-woman, I would add to to her "Need to be fucked," the following: "and/or the need to be eaten."

The gnawing need is always there but it may be satisfied by either gender.

One could also say that wanting to have sex is the foremost and constant subject on your mind.

I personally consider "nympho" a sexist slur, since it usually refers to women behaving in ways that are acceptable for men. To me, the term "nympho" is an attempt at an educated way to say "slut," which falls short of educated.

Otherwise, you're just a person who likes to have sex. A "teenager," if you will.

 

I personally don't get too offended by the word, not that I get called that very often.

My husband calls me a slut with some regularity, but he means it as a compliment, and I take it that way. I'm just a girl who likes sex.

Words are just words. Their impact depends a lot on how they're intended by the person doing the sending.

 

The two cases in my life where I have heard the term "nympho" regularly have been these:

1) In college, in reference to girls who like to have sex a lot. I think the word was used to soften the idea of a "slut," but the very notion of the word implies that it isn't normal to want sex regularly. Calling a girl a nympho means that she likes sex more than normal, and that carries implications that sex is somehow wrong.

2) In poorly written sex stories. Apologies to those authors who like to use the word in their stories, but it's a substitution for "slut" if the writer can't think of anything else. Again, negative connotations. Plus, it's a lazy writer excuse. It's a great way to get a woman character to get gangfucked by everybody who works at a gas station overnight in a story without actually providing internal reasons. Why did she beg to be fucked in the bathroom at a dive bar? Because she was a nympho, and needed some fucking! It's just lazy.

 

Yeah. Being a nympho dosn't mean you're a slut (just wanted to be sure to point that out).

Yeah, slut and nympho aren't interchangeable, of course. You could want sex all the time but not get it, and you could want sex all the time with just one person. But the word still holds the suggestion that the desire for sex is abnormal.

I've always commented on the dual standards that men have - 'another conquest' type of mentality for them, whereas the women are just slags if they try the same thing :roll:

Up to a point there's nothing wrong with a stromg sex drive, or in fact a low sex drive - in a relationship it helps if both partners have a similar drive level, but how many people does that happen to? :lol:

Nympho to me has very negative conotations. It means 'dirty' because she will not be sensible about who she sleeps with, or what protection she takes - the urge to have sex will override common sense precautions. And a Nympho in that sense also would not be a good relationship propsect unless you liked to think she was out shagging around every time your back was turned....

So I don't like the term nympho or slut as to me they have very negative connotations.

There's certainly nothing wrong with a woman having a high sex drive - guys have a high sex drive more often than not! It's how they handle that! As one female friend once told me, she had 'the boys' to keep her satisfied when she was single - a box full of vibrators that she kept in her bedroom and when the need took her she could satisfy the urge bit not be as she saw it 'a bad girl' :lol:

I think some societies attach more importance to sexual morality among women than others. Certainly the sexual behaviour of many women nowadays would have seen them shunned by families, friends and society even just 50 years ago.
