2nd topic of the night because I have nothing better to do until I fall asleep...

I can't be the only person on this entire forum who practices some kind of martial arts, so... All you of the fighty persuasion... who are you, what do you do, what rank are you, etc...

Myself, I practice an Okinawan style called Shudo-Kan. I earned my black belt in that style about 4 months ago, and have been doing it for around 6 years. I've also recently started doing Judo. I'm a white belt in that.

Sure you wont try out your shudo on us? Am the world champion in runnin lol

 

I only used to practice Marital Arts, got quite good at, so I was told.

 

No, sorry, I don't. I always thought it would be cool to get into kickboxing tho...

I've been practicing T'ai chi ch'uan for about 20 years now, the Yang style, which isn't martial in its application, but like all the 'soft' varieties of martial arts, does have it's roots in a fighting form.

It needs a bit of space, so I try to get outside in the summer, and tend to practice Qigong more in the winter, as it is more static which means I don't find myself bumping into furniture!

I taught for about three years after inheriting the classes from my teacher when he emigrated, had to give it up though, which was a shame as I think it was one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

 

I did Wing Chun for about ten years - too lazy now though!

 

I have mastered in Ju-No, whereas Ju-No know if I have a knife or Ju-No know if I have a gun.

I used to do karate and I was almost an Orange belt, the 3rd belt, and I just stopped....I should start again.

 

I've had instruction in Judo, Kempo, Tai Chi Chuan, and two forms of Karate. I've never been able to take more than three classes because once I managed to get into the "basic" stance I couldn't move without losing my balance. (Not because of weight either, this was when I was 6' and 160 lbs.) I finally managed to conclude that my build simply isn't suited to those martial arts created by compact oriental types, but I haven't been able to find anything teaching styles like Bando, Capoeira, or Savate nearby.

 

My personal form of self defence is the sprint. I won my last fight by a good hundred yards!

Being serious, I don't do any martial arts but my 9 year old son, Big Bugle (The names have been changed to protect the innocent) is about 12 months from reaching a black belt is Shotokan Karate. The twins (Bugle-ess and the bogof boy (Buy One, Get One Free)) have just started training as well. They are 5.

By the time they are teenagers I'm going to live in fear of my life.

 

I train Taekwondo (ITF Style) and Wing Chun Kuen

Also dabble with Nunchaku but tend to concuss myself quite often!!!!
