At the height of the Great Purge, I had novels here. They weren't porn. The first sex scene (if you could call it that) in the leading novel was buried 350 pages deep.

It was not porn. You couldn't even call it erotica, by any stretch of the imagination.

And it didn't break the rules.

But in protest to the Great Purge, I had it deleted. And when I did that, it had 1.2 MILLION views.

Well, I had several stories with millions of readers, and I took them down when I went elsewhere. Contrary to you, I'm not blaming this site, or anyone, for something I did voluntarily.

 

WTF. I asked what I thought was a simple question about a rule for posting a story on this website when I started this conversation.
My goal in even coming to this website was to see if readers found anything I wrote worth reading.
I had no idea that it would bring out what seems the sentiments of a lot of frustrated and pissed off folks. After reading through the comments, I am really glad that I didn't come to this site earlier. I don't have a lot of frustration in my life now but less than 6 months ago I don't think I could have handled much more.
So to any of you that I offended by asking the question or any of my follow up comments/ question, thanks for your tolerance.
As for me, I took some of the comments and have decided what to do based on those. Thanks for that.

 

This website is so hypocritical with this 'rule' when so many other perverted sex acts are apparently OK with them. I'm talking about 'rape', and fetishes that are just plain gross.

 

Even though there's been numerous court cases that say that stories with underage characters cannot be prosecuted, in the current climate the owners have decided to play safe than sorry where children are concerned. And seriously, people need to stop this argument of "why do you ban this thing I like and not this thing I think is gross." Plenty of other sites to go to--the owners don't want underage stories, then they don't want them. I wonder if you'd call a site hypocritical if they allowed underage stories but said no to those fetishes you find gross?

 

Your points are well taken. I understand about the peds who 'get off' on those stories and find them titillating.
I personally don't like 'father / daughter / uncle' stuff. I emphatically am NOT into pedophile shit.
But, I do find first time experiences interesting to read between partners of the same age. It reminds me of MY youth.
If you read some of the archives ON THIS website that are from a few years back, apparently it was OK to post stories such as those, and they still haven't been deleted. So the old stories are OK....Just new stories are now censored.

 

Yes, in the time I've been here the age changed from 14 to 16 then to 18. Most of the old stuff just requires someone to report it. A prolific writer here had a giant rant a few months ago because she wrote a story when the age restriction was 16 involving a 17 year old--but someone reported it since it's now against the rules and it's been deleted. If those underage stories are reported then they go away, that simple.

There are competing sites that have raised age limits on stories but decided not to retroactively censor stories that were written within the rules of their time. Anything old can still be the way they were, anything new has to conform to the new rules, so it's not like XNXX is the only place this goes down, though preserving instead of mass deletion probably would have been a better choice.

And that is where one of your examples, Nabikov's Lolita, comes in. That book is a methodical thought experiment on the sexualization of a young (minor) protagonist, and yet it is at the same time bona fide classical literature.

It is easy to think of similar examples.

One of my favorites is Innocent Erendira, a novelette by Nobel Prize winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It is assuredly fine literature, yet it is also the sexually explicit story of a thirteen year old girl whored out by her grandmother. Complete with sexualization and objectification.

If we set aside the issue of under-age and merely consider the blurring of lines between romance and porn, one would be remiss to neglect D.H. Lawrence, Lady Chatterley's Lover. And East of Eden, by Steinbeck.

Literature is often sexually explicit to the point of being arguably pornographic, from the perspectives of common sensibilities.

Moreover, pornographic erotica often attains literary quality. A good example would be Romance of Lust (Anonymous), which is assuredly pornography yet rivals Jane Austen for craft. Incidentally, Romance of Lust also portrays explicit sexual congress between adults, adolescents, and pre-adolescents. Yet it can be found on virtually any mainstream book venue and can be bought in fine book stores.
