Although he has only been in office a few months, Donald Trump’s presidency has had a major impact on how the world sees the United States. Trump and many of his key policies are broadly unpopular around the globe, and ratings for the U.S. have declined steeply in many nations. According to a new Pew Research Center survey spanning 37 nations, a median of just 22% has confidence in Trump to do the right thing when it comes to international affairs. This stands in contrast to the final years of Barack Obama’s presidency, when a median of 64% expressed confidence in Trump’s predecessor to direct America’s role in the world...

The sharp decline in how much global publics trust the U.S. president on the world stage is especially pronounced among some of America’s closest allies in Europe and Asia, as well as neighboring Mexico and Canada. Across the 37 nations polled, Trump gets higher marks than Obama in only two countries: Russia and Israel...

In the closing years of the Obama presidency, a median of 64% had a positive view of the U.S. Today, just 49% are favorably inclined toward America. Again, some of the steepest declines in U.S. image are found among long-standing allies...

Trump’s character is also a factor in how he is viewed abroad. In the eyes of most people surveyed around the world, the White House’s new occupant is arrogant, intolerant and even dangerous...[Few] believe he is charismatic, well-qualified or cares about ordinary people.

Israel, India and China have all come to visit us. Europe has their own problems to deal with so we will leave them be. I don't think North Korea or Syria like us though.

 

I am glad the Israelis like Trump for two mildly contradictory reasons.

First, my support for Israel is virtually unconditional. I am glad that the Israelis trust Trump to assure their safety and well being.

Second, Trump's supporters in the alt right are usually antisemitic. Trump's support for Israel sends them a message.

The combined membership of the Klu Klux Klan and the American Nazi Party is fairly small. I would estimate it as no more than a few thousand people at most. The alt right supports Trump. The alt right is generally antisemitic. It's numbers are hard to estimate because there is not a single organization that unites them as members. Nor have polls yet asked people if they favor or oppose the alt right.

"Alt" in the term "alt right" means "alternative." The alt right is less supportive of capitalism than the traditional right, and more supportive of white nationalism. Some desire what they call "a white ethno state" where only whites will be allowed to live. That of course is a preposterous fantasy.

Socialists preferred Bernie Sanders. I presume most voted for Hillary, but some refrained from voting. For some years polls have indicated that a large and growing minority of Americans prefer socialism to capitalism.

As far as our image around the world I'm certainly not gonna base what is off of one artical by some liberal bias colomnist.
Trump actually is turning out to be a pretty good diplomat.
If our image has suffered its because countries are pissed off that they can't take advantage of us anymore.

 

What doggo fails to realize is that Trump doesn't give a fuck what liberals think in any country. He also fails to realize that the only people Trump needs to satisfy are Americans...and even then, some opinions don't matter. Let the froth rise, further your demise. Trump owns you bitches.

 

For too many years Obama and the democrats have used public polls for their decisions.
Of course people are going to want free things and will kiss your ass as long as you provide them with free stuff.
Trump knows that someone has to pay for all of this stuff and it isn't really free.
That is all the democrats have ever had. Now that the tax payers seem them for what they are the democrats are being kicked aside.
It is very hard for the democrats to give free stuff to anyone when they are not in charge of the money.
It is very hard to understand the gravy train has ended.

 

Those foreign countries are just upset because the US has a strong leader now instead of a brainless patsy like Obama...

They fear a strong US with a strong economy. To those countries the "right thing" is for the US to give it's wealth and technology away and lower the US standard of living while raising theirs....

 

The world needs to shut up. American people give more to foreign aid than any other country or government including our own.

We know Trump was not the best pick but of the two choices he was.

 

The world has a more positive view of the U.S. when it sees America as weak and willing to give up its wealth to corrupt organizations such as the United Nation. Or when it's willing to give plane loads of cash to dictators in Iran. Or make deals where Communists in Cuba get everything they want in exchange for nothing. Or when we make trade deals like TPP and NAFTA which are great for everyone except America.

The world had a positive view of Obama. It has a negative view of Trump. That's why I love watching Trump Make America Great Again.

 

Most people have just been manipulated into hating Trump by the mainstream media and Hollywood celebs. They think he is a rapist who was put there by Putin, everyone thinks Trump was investigated by the FBI, and he was guilty, simply because that is what our media relentlessly keeps telling us. Never retracting their lies., always hiding away any cases that tell a different narrative. Leaders in Europe don't like him because he doesn't want the American people paying our defence bill. They don't like him because we have a bunch of crappy environmental laws we have to stick to at our expense that will have no effect on climate change if America doesn't do its bit. But most of his policies would actually be a hit, In Europe in particular the idea of a Muslim immigration ban is, contrary to what you might think, very popular. As is the idea of secure borders.

People liked Obama because he portrayed a weak America with no sense of identity. Going around apologising for things that needed no apology. It's an ego thing, Europe increasingly matters less in the world, and when Obama made America look weak, everyone felt just a little bit better.

 

The U.S. is a soverign nation....followed up.... by who cares how the rest of the world views the U.S....

It has always been the U.S. that gets the first call when other countries come across some turmoil.

 

I have mentioned this before but. I have lived in NJ most of my life and knew of Trump before the Apprentice days. He has always been a brash New Yorker. It's just who he is. I also think he's the most genuine person you'll meet. That being said, people don't know what to make of him as they've never dealt with someone like him Before. I think in time people will get used to him and all will be well in the world again. Trump isn't going to put the US into an unfair deal though so other countries are finding out the gravy train has left.

 

Sure thing guys everyone fears the u.s! The u.s is the single most powerful country in the world! We are all sitting at home at the edge of our chairs waiting impatiently to hear the last news about how the u.s have saved the world (and possibly the entire universe) and we can't go to sleep at night if we haven't talked about the u.s at least three times a day.
Granted, the u.s has invaded a few countries here and there, killed a few thousand civilians, planted a couple of dictatorship and overall fucked every single country that came in his way but hey! That's the price to pay to have the best damn country in the whole wide world as the world police!

By the way, that article is bullshit, u.s image has probably neither increased nor decreased.

I totally agree with most of what all you commented. Trump is nothing like the lying media portrays him to be. He has this country's best interest in mind he's a true patriot. Fuck the rest of the world I'm glad we got someone in there that's putting America first.
I think the world is is viewing us in a different light now we're operating with strength instead of weakness
