I am an atheist. I acknowledge there is a possibility of a creative force behind the beginning of the universe, but that is not something I personally adhere to or believe. I don't believe in god and it would take a substantial amount of evidence to change my opinion on that.

Gods in terms of monotheism, such as the god of Abraham, worshiped by the Jews, Christians and Muslims, are simply false, as the only source of evidence are the holy scriptures, which are incompatible with not only facts about nature, but are also inherently inconsistent with themselves with several contradictions.

 

No worries on that score, some decent Isle of Juray(? ) Laproagh and a variety of English Ales, no IPA though. Cuban cigars, let me know what brand of ciggies you want.

I agree with DS1980, there is not enough evidence to prove any god exists, yet. But the I think I would have a better chance of being the 2016 US president than there is of a god being proven to exist.

If you know better then offer me the empirical proof to study.

BUT, I do believe in karma, what goes around comes around, treat others as you would like to be treated..... There are many "sayings" along this theme.

 

Who's interested in finding out if god exists? I know some force controls my life or I'd get or lose exactly as I did or didn't. But that doesn't happen coz as a guy called Luther said god is merciful. And I'd personally not want to get into trouble on that count I need all the mercy to avoid fate and it's sidekicks.

But yes I don't believe in anything anyone tells me about God. My God is my own and that's al I care about.

 

I do not believe in karma, there is no "force of good" that punishes the bad. Bad stuff happens to bad people because good people take note and try to punish them for their bad deeds.

 

It's statements like these that are the reason these threads usually turn to shit.

Neither of you know for sure that what you're saying is true or accurate, yet you make absolute statements. That's not okay.

Just admit YOU DON'T KNOW better than anybody else and call it a day. Either that, or say "In my opinion, I believe, etc"

 

On the theme I'd like to as both richief and ne woman if they're atheistic or agnostic. Just a theoretical exercise coz I'm a believer pure and simple.

 

To say something is false is not an absolute statement. It is something that can be rectified if/when new/better evidence arises. Until evidence is brought forward to prove the existence of such gods, it is perfectly valid to propose them as false.

Such as the flying spaghetti monster. It cannot be proved that it does not exist. But to proclaim it does exist without evidence is false.
