Sonic is unlike any other fast food chain out there. Not only because you can order multiple unique items—like a grilled cheese, Coney dog, or Reba McEntire’s beloved tots—but that it all comes to your car drive-in style, hand-delivered by a Sonic employee (who’s sometimes even on roller skates).
While the restaurant itself is a blast from the past, Sonic is certainly up with the times. From its celebrity partnerships to a menu full of trendy dirty sodas, the chain knows how to keep customers coming back for more.
Right now, the best way to keep customers happy is by offering incredible value. So, Sonic is revamping its $1.99 value menu—as well as adding four new items to menus.

Sonic
Starting March 31, Sonic’s “Fun.99 Menu” is expanding. The $1.99 menu will now feature its Queso Wraps in both Bacon Ranch and Southwest Crunch flavors, French Toast Sticks, Groovy Fries, and floats made with Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, Barq’s Root Beer, or Fanta. Sonic is also introducing new Jr. Chicken Sandwiches in both Original and Honey Chipotle flavors for just $1.99.
The Original Jr. Chicken Sandwich pretty much shrinks its classic chicken sandwich down to a more bite-sized (and cheaper) format. The crispy chicken sandwich is topped with lettuce and mayo—no pickles, unlike the classic—on a bun. The all-new Honey Chipotle Jr. Chicken Sandwich features a junior-sized crispy chicken filet topped with Sweet Honey Chipotle Aioli, lettuce, and tomato on a bun.
Sonic revamps its $1.99 menu pretty often to keep things fresh—most recently in October, when it added its Grilled Cheese Burger and Cream Slushes to the value menu. However, the general offerings tend to stay the same, with a main dish, side dish, and dessert always available.
In addition to the refreshed $1.99 menu, Sonic has also changed some of its sauces—and added two new ones.

Sonic
Sonic is changing its Ranch, Honey Mustard, and BBQ Sauce to make them more flavorful and bolder, as well as adding two new sauces to menus: Jalapeño Ranch and Asian-Style Sweet Chili
The Jalapeño Ranch is a creamy ranch sauce with herbs and a hint of spicy green jalapeño, while the Asian-Style Sweet Chili is a sweet-and-spicy sauce made with soy, sesame, garlic, and ginger.
I tried Sonic’s new sauces early, and they’re both tasty new additions to the menu. I dunked chicken nuggets into both and while the Asian-Style Sweet Chili offered a more sweet-and-spicy sesame chicken vibe that I enjoyed, I loved the creamy, light kick from the Jalapeño Ranch just a little bit more. There’s a slight bite of heat from the peppers, but the cooling sensation of the herby ranch balances it out perfectly.
Luckily, it does sound like both new sauces are here to stay. So, whether you dip your nuggets and fries into them, or use them to top your $1.99 Jr. Chicken Sandwiches, both new sauces are a must-try.
