  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Could you please tell my employer this information? Because, I already have all the information you wrote, but (damn) my paycheck isn't improving because of it. Do you think that my employer will give me a big, fat raise if I inform him of your post?

you are just ignorant if you don't realize that offering tax incentives for fitness club memberships can be inferred to be rewarding good behavior...WHY should the government offer these tax incentives? for what reason? answer that question and you will come to the basic point of my simple argument and Shake's more elegantly stated one..

Actually, I am not ignorant. But thanks for the compliment.

The reason it would be beneficial for the government to offer tax incentives for health club memberships is because the government would spend less money on providing health services. Exercise is not only good for our physical well being; it is good for our mental well being. There is a grass roots efforts in the mental health profession to include physical exercise as part of therapy.

Could you please explain how a tax incentive for health club membership would cost the government? It will cut the cost of health care across the board -- physically as well as mentally. It will provide prevention.

The government already provides relief for its citizens in such programs as C.H.I.P. and disability. Also, health club memberships will help depression, perhaps even get a few members of society off disability.

Don't you see yet that the issue is not whether or not it would be beneficial to anyone? that is not a part of anyone's argument against you...we are not saying that it might NOT be beneficial...IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT WOULD OR WOULDN'T...

the point is that to offer such an incentive constitutes the government involving itself in the PRIVATE LIVES of its citizens to an undue extent...

Explain how offering a program such as I write of is different than programs such as C.H.I.P. or Medicare, except its proactive instead of reactive? Also, how does it involve getting into the private lives of its citizens, especially when compared to the government paying for mental health therapy?

I tire of arguing with you, if you cannot by now see the point I was making then there's nothing I can do, except to advise a bit of reading on the foundation of this country, and the principles we stood for at that time as regards the proper role of government in the lives of private citizens..

I keep trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you're making that harder and harder.

Sure, your program sounds like a win-win. Reward people for being healthy, they spend less time in doctors' offices, as you said, less drain on the health care system, everyone's happy. Except for people who don't want to go to the gym. They are punished in the form of heavier taxation.

As I said before, you have no problem with this because you aren't a burden to the healthcare system. At least I'm guessing, since you're so gun-ho about it. But would you support such a measure when it came to them taxing you more for something you do enjoy, or some bit of behavior you don't want to give up?

And for the love of pete, what the hell is C.H.I.P.? I've asked you thrice now, and you keep not answering me. But either way, I'm betting it's not mandatory. Neither is Medicare. But really it doesn't matter because I told you that the government OFFERING such services as to help those less able is fine. It's government FORCING citizens to do it that I have a problem with, and so should you. Your tax breaks for the healthy is just another form of government control and puts us one step closer to them actually telling people how they have to live their lives.

Why do you want to give up your personal freedoms and choices so much?

    -S-
